Lehigh Valley Community Members Called on Rep. Mackenzie to Permanently Extend Tax Credits To Keep Health Care Affordable
October 27, 2025
Bethlehem, PENNSYLVANIA - As Trump’s tariffs bring increasing sticker shock, a coalition of concerned community members and local advocacy organizations gathered in Bethlehem on Saturday to give away free Halloween costumes to local families and call on Congressman Ryan Mackenzie to lower costs for Lehigh Valley families.
“I’ve worked my entire life and I’ve always been insured, but my health conditions make it so that I still have bills that insurance doesn't cover. How is that fair?” said Denise Roth, Nazareth resident and PA-07 constituent. “We can’t afford our care as it is - any increase in costs will only make it harder to access. The Lehigh Valley community needs Congressman Mackenzie to work to make health care more affordable and accessible by making these tax credits permanent and reversing cuts to Medicaid.”
With health care costs already soaring, community members are urging Congressman Mackenzie to permanently extend health care tax credits to prevent skyrocketing premium costs for his constituents. Nearly half a million Pennsylvanians used Pennie to get their health insurance this year, including over 28,000 in the Lehigh Valley. Those 28,000 constituents of Mackenzie could see an 80% increase in premium costs if these credits expire. Without action from Rep. Mackenzie to permanently extend these tax credits, 21,000 working Pennsylvanians and their families will face steep increases in health care costs.
