Affordable PA Joined The Caring Cupboard and Unrig Our Economy For a Food Drive to Benefit Central PA

November 20, 2025

Palmyra, PENNSYLVANIA —  On Saturday, Affordable Pennsylvania, the Caring Cupboard, and Unrig Our Economy hosted a community-powered food drive to fight hunger in Central Pennsylvania.

“Right now, it seems like everyone has to stretch their dollar and make cuts somewhere to get by. Unfortunately, with rising grocery prices, food is one of the first places people make those cuts,” said David Fitzkee, executive director of The Caring Cupboard. “I’m thrilled the community showed up today to support their neighbors in need and that we’re able to be a part of the fight against food insecurity in southcentral PA."

With the late distribution of SNAP benefits this month due to the government shutdown, rising food costs from tariffs, and historic cuts to SNAP from the Republican Tax Law, many families are facing an even greater struggle to put food on the table. As a result, local food banks across the Commonwealth are seeing a sharp increase in demand as more people are forced to turn to them for help.
