SNAP Helps 145,913 of Rep. Bresnahan’s Constituents Put Food on the Table
Scranton, PENNSYLVANIA – Ahead of a planned markup of the Republican budget in the House Committee on Agriculture, of which Rep. Rob Bresnahan (PA-08) is a member, Affordable Pennsylvania released the following statement:
“Rep. Rob Bresnahan has a history of promising to lower costs for his constituents, only to do the exact opposite," said Rachele Fortier, executive director of Affordable Pennsylvania. “This week, Rep. Bresnahan has an opportunity to stand with working families by protecting the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, which 145,913 of his own constituents rely on to afford groceries. We urge him to listen to his constituents and save working people from devastating cuts to this program that helps them put food on the table.”
Rep. Bresnahan has a history of supporting cuts to the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP). Earlier this year, he voted for a budget blueprint that directed the House Committee on Agriculture to cut programs under its jurisdiction by at least $230 billion through 2034, with cuts expected to come largely or entirely from SNAP.
Across Pennsylvania, SNAP helps over two million people put food on the table.
