Reps. Ryan Mackenzie (PA-07), Rob Bresnahan (PA-08), and Scott Perry (PA-10) Voted to Pass Budget Bill That Cuts Critical Benefits for Working Pennsylvanians

PENNSYLVANIA - In a massive betrayal to their constituents, Reps. Ryan Mackenzie (PA-07), Rob Bresnahan (PA-08), and Scott Perry (PA-10) joined their Republican House colleagues to vote for devastating cuts to food assistance and healthcare. Trump’s tax plan includes the largest cuts to Medicaid and SNAP in history and threatens to take away benefits from millions of Americans.
PA-10 constituent and special education teacher Cassie McCabe shared the below statement following the vote:
“When you cut programs like SNAP and Medicaid, you’re just kicking the can down the line. Those problems don’t just go away - they get worse. In my job, I see the effect of early intervention. I see that students who receive services earlier have smaller problems. Some of these critical services, like social work, counseling services, and psychiatric care, are funded through Medicaid. Without these services, these issues can lead to homelessness, addiction, and broken families. We don’t want to play catch-up here. These cuts will just end up costing society and the states more money in the future. When our elected officials fail to listen to us and advocate for us, they are no longer truly representing us.”
Despite millions of Pennsylvanians and hundreds of thousands of people in their own districts relying on these critical programs to put food on the table and pay their medical bills, the congressmen chose to prioritize tax breaks for billionaires over the basic needs of their constituents. This calamitous legislation will benefit those at the very top at the expense of working families, children, people with disabilities, rural communities, and seniors, triggering automatic cuts to Medicare due to its massive increase in the deficit.
