Rep. Bresnahan (PA-08) Voted to Make Historic Cuts to Medicaid After Vowing Repeatedly to Protect the Program
July 16, 2025
PENNSYLVANIA - Ahead of Vice President JD Vance’s visit to PA-08 to join Congressman Rob Bresnahan on a victory lap on the Republican Tax Law, Affordable Pennsylvania released the following statement:
“It’s bad enough that Congressman Bresnahan betrayed his constituents by voting for a bill that will rip healthcare and food assistance from tens of thousands of them. It’s even worse that while his constituents will struggle to put food on the table and afford basic medical care, Bresnahan will be raking it in via stock trades and tax breaks,” said Rachele Fortier, executive director of Affordable Pennsylvania. “So, for him to now join Vice President Vance on a victory lap to continue to lie to his constituents about what this bill will bring is unconscionable. Affordable Pennsylvania urges Congressman Bresnahan to try telling his constituents the truth for a change.”
"I wish Rep. Bresnahan was more concerned with the well-being of his constituents than kowtowing to the Trump administration and his fellow multimillionaires. Many residents of PA-08 do not feel heard or represented by Bresnahan and his office,” said Grace Robinson, PA-08 constituent and Medicaid recipient. “Cutting Medicaid will have devastating consequences on the lives of his constituents who rely on the critical program - including myself. Pennsylvanians deserve better."
