The Tax Credits Are Set To Expire on Dec. 31st, 2025

December 17, 2025

PENNSYLVANIA - After months of tireless advocacy from their constituents, Congressmen Ryan Mackenzie and Rob Bresnahan have today signed onto the discharge petition to force a vote on a three-year extension of critical health care tax credits. Now, Affordable Pennsylvania urges Congressmen Ryan Mackenzie (PA-07), Rob Bresnahan (PA-08), and Scott Perry (PA-10) to stay in DC and ensure this bill gets a vote this year to prevent skyrocketing health care costs for tens of thousands of their constituents.

“My monthly costs are going from $393/month to $1067/month – a 170% increase. Between my husband and I, we will be paying $17,000 a year in health insurance premiums alone – not including dental or vision,” said Tracy Antrim, a retired occupational therapist assistant from Emmaus. “I’ve worked since I was thirteen years old. Now that I’m retired, I should be enjoying my golden years - not scraping by to afford the care that keeps me alive. I am grateful that Congressman Mackenzie finally listened to his constituents and signed onto this three-year extension. Now he must vote YES to extend these tax credits for at least three more years and ensure affordable care for constituents like me.”

Reps. Mackenzie, Bresnahan, and Perry have already voted twice for funding packages that did not include an extension of these expiring health care tax credits, despite each congressman representing over 20,000 constituents who benefit from them. Today, Reps. Mackenzie and Bresnahan finally signed onto the Democrats’ discharge petition after continued advocacy from Pennsylvanians in their districts. Congressman Perry has not just supported letting these tax credits expire, but actually advocated for a total repeal of the ACA, putting health care at risk for millions of Americans with pre-existing conditions and leading to massive cost increases.

Without these tax credits, health care costs will skyrocket across the three congressmen’s districts. Pennsylvanians in PA-08 are seeing 84% average increase in monthly premiums, while PA-10 residents' health care costs are increasing by an average of 180%. In PA–07, Ryan Mackenzie’s constituents will face some of the highest rate hikes, with Lehigh, Carbon, and Northampton Counties all facing premium increases of more than $300/month.
