PA Families Pay the Price as Congressmen Vote to Continue Iran Conflict

Gas prices across Pennsylvania have surged to over $4.50/gallon
PENNSYLVANIA – Last night, Reps. Ryan Mackenzie, Rob Bresnahan, and Scott Perry voted against a resolution that would require congressional approval for further military action in Iran, continuing to green-light a conflict that is driving up gas prices and costs for working families across our Commonwealth.
“Families in Pennsylvania are already struggling to keep up with the rising cost of groceries, gas, and everyday essentials, and Reps. Mackenzie, Bresnahan, and Perry continue to support policies that are making things even worse,” said Rachele Fortier, Executive Director for Affordable Pennsylvania. “No family should have to worry about how they’re going to afford basic necessities or if they can put enough gas in the tank to get to work because of what is going on in Washington. Reps. Mackenzie, Bresnahan, and Perry need to stop voting for policies that drive up costs. Their priority should be making life more affordable for Pennsylvanians.”
Pennsylvanians are paying the price for the conflict through higher costs on groceries, gas, shipping, and other everyday essentials. Since the start of the conflict in Iran, gas prices have skyrocketed nearly 50%, reaching over $4.50 a gallon in each of their districts. Grocery prices surged higher in the month of April, more than any month in the last four years. The rise in prices is mostly driven by a major oil shock caused by the war with Iran, which has pushed diesel prices higher, compounding already fast-rising prices.
