ICYMI: PA-10 Families Project Their Stories on Harrisburg Building, Call on Rep. Perry to Lower Costs

HARRISBURG — South Central Pennsylvania families took their message directly to Rep. Scott Perry Thursday night, projecting their personal stories about the rising cost of living onto the side of a vacant former federal court building in downtown Harrisburg. Under Rep. Perry, household costs have increased for everything - gas, groceries, health care and more - to the tune of $3,900.

The building light projection action, organized by Affordable Pennsylvania, featured videos from PA-10 constituents sharing what higher costs mean for their families. The action called on Perry to prioritize lowering costs for Pennsylvania families over tax breaks for billionaires. The message to Perry was simple: “Throw us a lifeline and take action to lower costs for South Central PA families.”
Families continue to face higher prices for groceries, health care, housing and other necessities, due to Rep. Perry’s vote for the Republican Tax Law, which made the largest cuts to SNAP and Medicaid in history, while giving tax breaks to billionaires. Combined with his support for cost-raising tariffs, and allowing health care tax credits to expire, and supporting continued military action in Iran, Scott Perry has cost his constituents $3,900 more with his reckless votes.
“In my work supporting families, I have seen parents that have to choose between paying rent and buying groceries. And I also had to make that choice sometimes as well,” said Jasmine, a parent and Scott Perry constituent. “No parent should have to make that decision while our country prioritizes tax breaks for those who need them the least. Scott Perry, your constituents must be a priority.”
“Families across South Central Pennsylvania are doing everything they can to make ends meet, but they need our elected leaders to fight for them,” said Rachele Fortier, Executive Director of Affordable Pennsylvania. “Tonight, these constituents put their own stories in lights and sent Rep. Perry a clear message: we need a lifeline, not more tax breaks for billionaires.”
The action comes as Affordable Pennsylvania continues its statewide campaign calling attention to the affordability crisis facing Pennsylvania families and urging members of Congress to take action to lower costs.
