Rep. Mackenzie Has Not Held an Open, In-Person Town Hall Since His Second Month in Office
April 17, 2026
Allentown, PENNSYLVANIA - Yesterday morning, a group of Lehigh Valley constituents, including union members of SEIU Healthcare PA, SEIU 668, and USW Local 2599, visited Congressman Mackenzie’s office to deliver a formal invitation to their Workers’ Town Hall on Affordability next month.
"Every day, I hear the struggles of younger workers trying to establish themselves amid the rising costs of housing and healthcare. It's become extremely difficult for them to build families and a financially secure life in these conditions," said Greg Yemm, a USW Local 2599 Vice President. “At the same time, I see the struggle of my older members who want to retire but due to constantly rising costs, they can’t calculate their retirement needs so they continue to work. That's why I came to Representative Mackenzie's office to invite him to the Workers' Town Hall on May 7th. He needs to hear from his constituents about the affordability challenges we are facing."
Working families in the Lehigh Valley are facing an affordability crisis, struggling to pay for basic necessities like groceries, housing, gas, and healthcare without breaking the bank. This struggle is in part thanks to their congressman, who continues to support cost-raising measures like the Republican Tax Law that gutted critical health care and food assistance while failing to extend expiring health care tax credits, Trump’s illegal tariffs that are raising prices across the board, and the war in Iran that is jacking up the price of gas to over $4/gallon in PA-07. The Workers’ Town Hall on Affordability will spotlight the critical affordability issues that everyday working families are facing in the Lehigh Valley and the Poconos under Rep. Mackenzie’s leadership.
Congressman Mackenzie was already invited to this event by constituents via email and phone call, but has yet to respond. Constituents need to hear from their congressman, who hasn’t held an open, in-person town hall for his constituents since February 2025. These Pennsylvanians hope their congressman will join his constituents to hear their concerns about rising costs.
