The Ad Features a Local Business Owner Who Calls on Mackenzie to Stand Up for Small Businesses

Allentown, PENNSYLVANIA - Today, Affordable Pennsylvania launched a new ad calling on Congressman Ryan Mackenzie to stand up to the Trump administration’s harmful tariff policy.

The ad, “Afford”, features local business co-owner Mike Woodland, whose shop Dan’s Camera City has been serving the community for nearly 50 years. In the spot, Mike calls out Rep. Mackenzie for supporting the extreme Trump tariffs and voting for tax breaks for billionaires and big corporations at the expense of working families, urging him to stand against rising costs and encouraging fellow constituents to reach out to the Congressman to share their concerns.

In addition to the digital ad, Affordable Pennsylvania is distributing a mailer featuring Mike’s story and launching a Spanish-language radio spot in the region that similarly highlights the harmful impacts of the tariff policy. Both ads and the mailer are part of a $4 million accountability campaign across radio, TV, digital, and print media.

“A lot has changed in the photo industry since 1977, but Dan's Camera City remains 100% locally owned and family oriented. But these tariffs are a challenge that will be difficult to overcome,” said Mike Woodland, co-owner of Dan’s Camera City. “We need our representatives like Ryan Mackenzie to make good on their promises to lower costs, not capitulate to whatever Trump demands and then lie to constituents to avoid accountability. We know what these tariffs will bring and Congressman Mackenzie needs to stand against them.”

“As we start to see the economic impact of these tariffs, Mike’s story highlights the human toll of rising costs,” said Rachele Fortier, executive director of Affordable Pennsylvania. “A business that has served its community for generations should not be forced to choose between raising costs on its loyal customers or closing its doors. It’s time for Ryan Mackenzie to stand up to Trump and put the best interest of his constituents ahead of party loyalty and his billionaire backers.”

Mike: My camera shop has been helping families capture special moments and businesses share their stories since 1977.

As a business owner, I always try to go by two principles: always provide great service, and make cameras as affordable and accessible as possible.

When tariffs hit and raise costs for our manufacturers, it’s our customers who end up paying the price.

Congressman Ryan Mackenzie backed these tariffs.

Hurting local businesses like mine, and hurting our community.

Mackenzie needs to put us first.
