Harrisburg, PENNSYLVANIA - Today, Affordable Pennsylvania launched a new TV ad calling out Congressman Scott Perry for voting to gut health care for everyday Pennsylvanians to fund bigger billionaire tax breaks.

The ad, “Can’t Count On”, features PA-10 constituents Andrea Grove, Emily Stence, and Merrick Green, who call out Perry for voting for historic cuts to Medicaid in order to pay for bigger tax breaks for billionaires and big corporations. The constituents call on the congressman to prioritize Pennsylvanians’ health care over billionaires and urge fellow constituents to do the same.

Despite representing over 180,000 constituents who rely on Medicaid for care, Congressman Perry last summer cast a deciding vote to pass the Republican Tax Law that makes historic cuts to Medicaid. These cuts will rip care away from 340,000 Pennsylvanians, threaten hundreds of thousands of health care jobs, and will shutter rural hospitals across the Commonwealth.

“Medicaid is a lifeline for me - it helps me afford care that I otherwise couldn’t access.  But this summer, my congressman, Scott Perry, voted to gut Medicaid to give bigger tax breaks to the wealthiest Americans and big corporations. Why should billionaires get help, but people like me could lose their health care?”  said Emily Stence, Medicaid recipient from Elizabethville. “I don’t understand how Rep. Perry could continue to vote against the interest of the people he represents. I need my congressman to reverse these health care cuts and stand up for us.”

Read a Transcript of “Can't Count On” Below:

Emily: My parents had to take out a second mortgage to pay the medical bills.

Merrick: I rely on the health care I earned serving in the Air Force.

Andrea: I wish we could count on Congressman Scott Perry.

Emily: He voted to gut Medicaid, which would take away health care from thousands of Pennsylvanians…

Merrick: Including veterans

Andrea: … just to give tax cuts to billionaires and big corporations.

Merrick: That’s just cruel.

Emily: I wish Scott Perry was looking out for us.

Merrick: Not for billionaires.
