Cresco, PENNSYLVANIA - Today, Affordable Pennsylvania released the second ad of its seven-figure accountability campaign launched in PA-08 last month.
The ad, “Grace,” features a Cresco resident living with a rare metabolic disorder who relies on Medicaid to access the extensive medical and home care services she requires. In the ad, she calls out Congressman Rob Bresnahan for putting “profit over people like me” by selling stock in Medicaid providers before he voted for historic cuts to the program.
Last summer, Congressman Bresnahan sold six figures worth of stock in Medicaid providers shortly before voting to cut the program by over $900 billion to pay for bigger tax breaks for billionaires and big corporations. Medicaid provides health coverage to almost 3 million Pennsylvanians, including over 200,000 Pennsylvanians in PA-08. These cuts will rip care away from hundreds of thousands of Pennsylvanians, threaten 60,000 health care jobs across the Commonwealth, and put several local hospitals at risk of closure.
“In 2015, I was diagnosed with a metabolic disorder that changed my life. I suddenly required extensive medical care and home health care services. Medicaid was a lifeline for me and my family,” said Grace of Cresco. “Before we accessed Medicaid, we were drowning in debt. Now, I’m a college student working towards my degree. Without Medicaid, I never would have been able to get here. Congressman Bresnahan represents hundreds of thousands of Pennsylvanians who rely on this program. He needs to reverse his cuts to Medicaid to ensure his constituents like me have the best chance for a bright future.”
