Harrisburg, PENNSYLVANIA - Today, Affordable Pennsylvania launched a new TV ad calling out Congressman Scott Perry for his actions in Washington that have raised costs on Pennsylvanians, including his support of sweeping tariffs, his cuts to Medicaid and SNAP, and his vote to let health care tax credits expire.
The ad, “Squeezed,” features central Pennsylvania residents and constituents of Rep. Scott Perry calling out the congressman for his votes in Washington that are raising costs on everyday Pennsylvanians to the benefit of billionaires.
“While his constituents are struggling to pay their skyhigh health care premiums and put food on the table, Congressman Perry continues to support cost-raising measures at every turn. Despite calls from his constituents to fight for lower prices, he time and again prioritizes enriching billionaires over the basic needs of everyday Pennsylvanians” said Rachele Fortier, executive director of Affordable Pennsylvania. “We urge Congressman Perry to stop supporting Trump’s extreme tariffs, reverse his cuts to Medicaid and SNAP, and restore health care tax credits to lower costs for his constituents.”
Congressman Perry voted to raise the cost of health care, utilities, and groceries on working families with his vote for the Republican Tax Law last summer, which makes historic cuts to Medicaid and SNAP that are devastating health care and threatening the very fate of federal food assistance in the Commonwealth - all to give bigger tax breaks to billionaires and big corporations.
Congressman Perry also prioritized expanding tax breaks for the ultra-wealthy over extending expiring health care tax credits for his constituents. He not only voted against restoring the tax credits for 25,000 Pennsylvanians in his district, but has even advocated for a total repeal of the ACA, putting health care at risk for millions of Americans with pre-existing conditions and leading to massive cost increases. His failure to extend these health care tax credits before their expiration and support of cost-raising tariffs have led to rising costs across the board, from health care coverage to pharmaceuticals to school supplies.
