Reps. Mackenzie, Bresnahan, and Perry Voted to “Express Support” For the 2025 Republican Tax Law That Guts SNAP and Medicaid

April 16, 2026

PENNSYLVANIA - Today, Congressmen Ryan Mackenzie, Rob Bresnahan, and Scott Perry voted for a resolution to express support for last year’s Republican Tax Law, doubling down on their historic cuts to Medicaid and SNAP that will rip care and food assistance from hundreds of thousands of Pennsylvanians to pay for billionaire tax breaks.

“I am one of the many Pennsylvanians who have already lost their benefits because of this legislation. While I work part-time as a home health aide, my job doesn’t offer benefits, and my income can’t cover my basic needs, so I rely on Medicaid and SNAP. Due to chronic pain and limited mobility from serious health issues, these programs help me survive,” said Krysten, home health aide from Scranton. “As if it isn’t bad enough that Congressman Rob Bresnahan lied to my face when he promised to protect Medicaid, now he’s celebrating these cuts that are ripping critical assistance away from his constituents with this vote. Congressman Bresnahan should be fighting to reverse these cuts, not doubling down on them.”

New reporting this month from the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities highlights how SNAP participation is down about 2.5 million people or 6 percent between the tax law’s July 2025 enactment and December 2025. SNAP participation has dropped in every state, including by over 5% in Pennsylvania, even before changes to the program’s eligibility kicked in this March. The cuts to Medicaid will rip care away from over 300,000 Pennsylvanians across the Commonwealth, threaten 60,000 health care jobs across the Commonwealth, and put hospitals and nursing homes at risk of closure, leaving Pennsylvanians hours away from or without access to critical care.
