HARRISBURG, PA — Pennsylvania families facing high costs for groceries, housing, utilities, health care and other everyday needs connected with local organizations and public agencies today at an Affordability Resource Fair hosted by Affordable Pennsylvania and the PA 10th District Network on City Island.

At this free event, nonprofits, community organizations and local agencies helped residents find programs and services that can lower household costs and provide support. Residents received one-on-one help finding resources they may qualify for, including food assistance, housing support, financial assistance and state and local affordability programs.

“I used to know what my monthly budget looked like. Now I fill up my tank and realize I’m suddenly hundreds of dollars short before I’ve even paid the rest of my bills,” said Natasha, a PA-10 resident. “The price of gas has gone up so much that it has completely changed what I can afford. I’m cutting back on groceries, putting off things my family needs and constantly moving money around just to make it to the next paycheck. I never expected filling up the car to become the thing that could throw my entire household budget into a crisis.”

Policies including H.R.1, tariffs, and military action in Iran have caused the average Pennsylvania household to spend more than $4,700 extra on everyday goods and services since President Trump took office.

The resource fair comes as families across Pennsylvania continue to face high costs for basic necessities. Grocery prices, health care, utility bills, housing and transportation costs continue to put pressure on household budgets, leaving many families with less money for savings and other needs.

Affordable Pennsylvania will continue working with community organizations and advocates to make sure Pennsylvanians have access to information about programs that can help lower household costs and make their voices heard about the challenges they face.
