PENNSYLVANIA – The receipts keep piling up. New estimates show the average Pennsylvania household has now spent more than $4,700 extra on everyday goods and services since President Trump took office.

Policies including the Republican Tax Law, tariffs, and military action in Iran have caused families to face higher costs for groceries, gas, electricity, housing, and health care. Members of the Pennsylvania Congressional Delegation, including Rep. Ryan Mackenzie (PA-07), Rep. Rob Bresnahan (PA-08) and Rep. Scott Perry (PA-10) voted in support of the Republican Tax Law.

Just two months ago, Affordable PA reported that Pennsylvania families had paid more than $3,400 extra on necessities since 2024. Since then, costs have continued to climb, putting even more pressure on families trying to pay for the basics.

“The receipts keep getting bigger, but our paychecks don't,” said Doris of Easton, PA. “Pennsylvania families were promised lower costs. Instead, they're paying more for the things they need every day. Families need real relief on the costs that hit their budgets month after month.”

The receipts tell the story:

• $4,700+ in additional household costs since President Trump took office, including:

  • $1,022 more on housing costs, including rent and mortgage payments.

  • $310 more on groceries than in 2024, with grocery prices now more than 4% higher than when President Trump took office.

  • $548 more on gasoline for the average Pennsylvania household since the start of the conflict with Iran, totaling $3 billion more spent on gas across the state.

  • $210 more on electricity in 2025 than families paid in 2024, plus another $194 more in the first six months of 2026 compared with the first half of 2024.

  • More than 50% higher monthly ACA health insurance premiums in 2026 compared with 2025, with average deductibles increasing by more than $1,000.

For Pennsylvania families, these aren't just numbers on a spreadsheet. They show up at the grocery store, the gas pump and the kitchen table. A few extra dollars here and there can quickly become hundreds or thousands of dollars over the course of a year.
