Advocates from Across the District Rally to Protect 36,900 from Losing Health Care Coverage and up to 66,000 from Losing SNAP benefits
PENNSYLVANIA - Yesterday, concerned constituents marched to Congressman Scott Perry’s Harrisburg district office to demand that he put Pennsylvania’s families first in this federal budget. With the government funding deadline less than a week away, tariffs driving up food costs, Pennie users bracing for 82% increases in health insurance costs, Medicaid cuts that will devastate rural health care, and historic SNAP cuts threatening the fate of food assistance in the Commonwealth, Congressman Scott Perry has failed to prioritize the needs of families in PA-10.
“No family should have to worry about how they are going to put food on the table or get the care they need. As a volunteer at my church and with my local school district, I see how devastating cuts to essential programs like SNAP and Medicaid will be for my friends and neighbors,” said rally attendee and PA-10 constituent John Abbott. “It is hard for me to believe that our elected officials don’t understand the impact these cuts will have on their constituents. I’m calling on Rep. Scott Perry to show up for working families and fight for lower costs, including restoring cuts to SNAP and Medicaid.”
Not only did Congressman Scott Perry back Republican tariffs that have pushed prices through the roof - he also voted for the Republican Tax Law that guts critical programs like SNAP and Medicaid that help working families afford health care and food, and failed to make health care tax credits permanent. Now, Congressman Perry seems to be considering shutting down the government rather than reversing these health care cuts and delivering a budget that serves Pennsylvania’s working families - all to fund bigger tax breaks for billionaires.
