Rep. Perry Opposed Renewing Tax Credits That Help 25,000 of His Constituents Afford Care
January 8, 2026
PENNSYLVANIA — Today, Congressman Scott Perry voted against restoring critical health care tax credits that help more than 400,000 Pennsylvanians, including 25,000 of his own constituents, afford care.
“The ACA tax credits are critical to my family. My son deals with mental illness that makes steady full-time work unpredictable, even when he is trying his hardest. Those credits are the difference between him having health insurance or going without care altogether,” said PA-10 constituent John Flood. “Without coverage, the therapy, medication, and crisis support he relies on is unaffordable and his health declines fast, forcing him to receive his care from emergency services which only further drives up the cost. These credits give people like my son a fighting chance to live a stable, fulfilling life with dignity.”
Despite advocacy from his constituents, Congressman Perry not only failed to support any measure that renewed the tax credits, but actually called for Congress to let them expire, even advocating for a total repeal of the ACA. Congressman Perry’s district faces the highest average rate increase at 180% due to the expiration of these tax credits.
This vote to allow skyrocketing health care costs for his constituents follows Rep. Perry’s vote in support of the Republican Tax Law last summer, which pays for tax breaks for the wealthy by taking health care away from millions. Affordable Pennsylvania calls on Rep. Perry to prioritize affordable care for Pennsylvanians over billionaire tax breaks.
