PENNSYLVANIA — Six months into the Trump administration’s war in Iran, Pennsylvania families are still paying the price. The war has driven up the cost of gas, diesel, and other necessities, adding yet another expense for families already struggling with rising costs ahead of what’s expected to be record Labor Day prices.

““Every time I fill up my tank, I’m reminded of how much more expensive it is to get by,” said Amanda, a Harrisburg-area parent and PA-10 constituent. “I’m already worried about my health and the costs of taking care of my family, and higher gas prices make everything harder. I voted for leaders who promised to make life more affordable. Instead, families like mine are paying more while Congress keeps spending money on a war overseas. We need our elected officials to put Pennsylvania families first and start lowering costs.”

Congressmen Ryan Mackenzie, Rob Bresnahan, and Scott Perry have supported the war in Iran, voting against efforts to curb President Trump’s war powers, even as families in their districts struggle with the rising cost of nearly everything.

New research shows the war has cost at least $1,200 per household when accounting for war spending and higher costs for gas, groceries and other transportation. Diesel prices are 46% higher nationwide, while gasoline prices are 37% higher nationwide than before the war, and Pennsylvania drivers are paying about $1 more per gallon than they were before the war began.

Since February 2026, the average household’s extra fuel bill has been:

• $556 more for Ryan Mackenzie’s constituents

• $527 more for Rob Bresnahan’s constituents

• $557 more for Scott Perry’s constituents

The congressmen’s record of not listening to constituent’s challenges with rising costs extends well beyond the war:

• All three voted for the Republican Tax Law, which included historic cuts to the social safety net while providing tax breaks to wealthy Americans and corporations

• They voted six times over the last year in support of tariffs that raise costs; and allowed enhanced health care tax credits to expire.

• The result is a policy agenda that is making it harder for Pennsylvania families to get by, with working Pennsylvanians paying more than $4,200 more per year for necessities.

Pennsylvanians deserve to know: Why are Mackenzie, Bresnahan and Perry continuing to support a war that is costing American families more, while doing little to address the rising costs families are facing at home?

Affordable Pennsylvania calls on Mackenzie, Bresnahan and Perry to stop supporting a war that is raising costs on their constituents and focus on making life more affordable for Pennsylvania families.
