Albrightsville, PENNSYLVANIA - Today, Affordable Pennsylvania launched a new digital ad calling out Congressman Ryan Mackenzie for voting to raise health care costs on his constituents.

The ad, “Sara,” features local nurse Sara Emerle of Albrightsville, who explains how rising health care costs are forcing her patients to make impossible decisions. Sara criticizes Rep. Mackenzie’s vote for the Republican Tax Law, which will leave hundreds of thousands of Pennsylvanians without coverage and has skyrocketed the cost of care, and called on him to remember who he works for and serve Pennsylvania.

“As an urgent care nurse, many of my patients rely on Medicaid to access care. Without this coverage, patients will have to choose between getting necessary, sometimes life-saving, treatment and other necessities like paying rent or buying groceries. All to pay for bigger tax breaks for the wealthiest Americans - it isn’t right,” said Sara Emerle. “Pennsylvanians deserve a representative that will serve them, not billionaires. Congressman Mackenzie needs to reverse his cuts to Medicaid and fight for lower healthcare costs for the Lehigh Valley.”

Congressman Mackenzie’s vote last summer for the Republican Tax Law made historic cuts to Medicaid, which over 160,000 of his constituents rely on. These cuts will skyrocket health care costs, cut tens of thousands of jobs across the Commonwealth, put hospitals and nursing homes at risk of closure, and drive up the number of uninsured Americans in every state and every congressional district in the country, leading to 26,000 more uninsured Pennsylvanians in PA-07.

Sara: When I was 19, a nurse helped me through a medical emergency.

It really meant a lot to me.

I knew I wanted to be that person for someone else one day.

Health care has only gotten more expensive since then.

But Congressman Ryan Mackenzie voted to increase health care costs.

My patients are being forced to choose between getting the care they need and buying groceries.

It’s awful.

As a nurse, I love serving my community.

Ryan Mackenzie needs to serve us.
