The Ad Spotlights a Local Business Owner Who Calls on Perry to Stand Up to Harmful Tariffs

July 8, 2025

PENNSYLVANIA - Today, Affordable Pennsylvania launched its first ad as part of a $4 million accountability campaign across radio, TV, digital, and print media, calling on Congressman Scott Perry to stand up to the Trump administration and oppose the harmful tariffs. This campaign is in addition to the $2 million organizing effort that was announced in April.

The ad, Andrea, calls out Rep. Perry for supporting the extreme Trump tariffs and voting for tax breaks for billionaires and big corporations at the expense of working people, urging him to stand against the tariffs and encouraging fellow constituents to reach out to the Congressman to share their concerns.

The ad features Andrea Grove, founder of a small coffee shop and roastery, Elementary Coffee Co. in Harrisburg, discussing how both decisions by Perry hurt local businesses and working families like her own.

“At a time when economic uncertainty and rising prices make it more and more difficult to compete with the big chains and corporations, Scott Perry prioritized tax breaks for them over assistance for businesses and communities like mine,” said Andrea. “I have dedicated over a decade of my life to Elementary Coffee Co. As the tariff pause approaches and uncertainty descends, I am relying on our representatives, like Congressman Scott Perry, to do the right thing and stand up for small businesses like mine.”

“Andrea is just one of many constituents calling on Scott Perry to prioritize their livelihoods over bigger tax breaks for billionaires,” said Rachele Fortier, executive director of Affordable Pennsylvania. “Stories like Andrea’s must be told so that Congressman Perry can see the very real consequences of his actions in Washington on his constituents in Pennsylvania. We urge him to listen to these stories and take action.”

Andrea: I built my coffee shop from the ground up. Every penny counts.

So these tariffs are creating chaos.

Coffee beans are imported. I can’t afford to pay the tariffs out of pocket.

These tariffs have the potential to destroy my business.

But Congressman Scott Perry supported the tariffs.

They’re another tax driving up costs on small businesses like mine, to give tax cuts to big corporations and billionaires.

Scott Perry should be looking out for small businesses instead of big corporations.

I wish Scott Perry was looking out for us.
