Scranton, PENNSYLVANIA - Today, Affordable Pennsylvania launched a new digital ad on Congressman Rob Bresnahan’s stock trading and his vote to gut Medicaid last summer in the Republican Tax Law.
“Congressman Bresnahan has failed to keep his promise to protect Medicaid, failed to keep his promise to ban congressional stock trading, and even rubbed salt in the wound by selling his stake in Medicaid providers ahead of gutting the program. His decision to put profit over the Pennsylvanians he represents is unacceptable,” said Rachele Fortier, executive director of Affordable Pennsylvania. “Congressman Bresnahan needs to get his priorities straight and remember why he’s in Washington - to fight for the NEPA community. We call on the congressman to reverse his cuts to Medicaid and fight for affordable health care for Northeastern Pennsylvania.”
The ad, “Ride,” calls out Congressman Bresnahan for selling six figures worth of stock in Medicaid providers shortly before voting to cut the program by over $900 billion to pay for bigger tax breaks for billionaires and big corporations. Medicaid provides health coverage to almost 3 million Pennsylvanians, including over 200,000 Pennsylvanians in PA-08. These cuts will rip care away from hundreds of thousands of Pennsylvanians, threaten 60,000 health care jobs across the Commonwealth, and put several local hospitals at risk of closure.
This is the third ad of a seven-figure accountability campaign launched in February calling on Congressman Bresnahan to stop cutting Medicaid. The previous ads feature a young Medicaid recipient from Cresco living with a chronic illness and a Dalton health care worker who has spent 30 years providing care to the NEPA community. This campaign builds onto Affordable Pennsylvania’s existing $4 million dollar program that has been running ads in PA-07 and PA-10.

VO: The road to health care you can afford is already bumpy.
With Congressman Rob Bresnahan at the wheel, it’s even worse.
He voted to cut Medicaid to give tax breaks to billionaires and big corporations.
And he sold stock in Medicaid providers before voting to cut Medicaid.
Now, hundreds of thousands of Pennsylvanians could lose health care,
And our hospitals could even close.
Congressman Bresnahan put profit over people.
Tell him to look out for Pennsylvanians and stop voting to cut Medicaid.
